The summer trip arrived and we left Loughborough by charabanc for Coventry and our date with the City of Coventry MVC and Rugby MVC for our joint concert. Yes, it was a hot day, and, yes, we were in shirtsleeves, and yes, we performed well, as did our partner choirs on the night. We each had our own part of the programme and then came together for a glorious finale, some 75 voices filling the space with song and harmony. The programme was very well appreciated by the capacity audience, including many of our supporters who had travelled with us on the coach or made their own way by car. And afterwards, amidst the “Congrats”, “Well done’s” and handshakes, there was time to reflect, to realise, if we’d ever forgotten, that such a performance is why we do it, why we spend time in each other’s company on a Thursday night.
