What a fabulous night!

Our trip to Coventry

The summer trip arrived and we left Loughborough by charabanc for Coventry and our date with the City of Coventry MVC and Rugby MVC for our joint concert. Yes, it was a hot day, and, yes, we were in shirtsleeves, and yes, we performed well, as did our partner choirs on the night. We each had our own part of the programme and then came together for a glorious finale, some 75 voices filling the space with song and harmony. The programme was very well appreciated by the capacity audience, including many of our supporters who had travelled with us on the coach or made their own way by car. And afterwards, amidst the “Congrats”, “Well done’s” and handshakes, there was time to reflect, to realise, if we’d ever forgotten, that such a performance is why we do it, why we spend time in each other’s company on a Thursday night. Why we sing. Thanks to our MD, Georgie, and our accompanist, Paul for allowing us to have our moment on the stage.

On The Road!

part of our initiative to be seen and become better known by people in Loughborough.

For our weekly rehearsal last Thursday, 5th June, we visited Gorse Covert Community Centre, as part of our initiative to be seen and become better known by people in Loughborough and the surrounding villages. We visited Quorn earlier this year and the evening was well received by those who came to watch, and our rehearsal in Gorse Covert had the same reception. We had around 25 visitors, who came to hear us rehearse, have refreshments and a chat with us, and then listen to a short performance of some of the pieces from our current repertoire. Our thanks go to our audience, the ladies who helped prepare and serve refreshments, the staff at Gorse Covert CC, and to Debbie from the Co-op, who are sponsoring this year-long outreach initiative.

We are planning two further open rehearsals during the year, so watch this space for details, and, if you have time on a Thursday evening, come along and listen.

We’d love to see you.
